The three courts of the Scheveningen Beach Stadium are ready for action

It’s game day! The first whistle of the CEV Continental Cup Final in the Hague is about to go off to mark the start of the race for the last two European tickets (one per gender) to the Olympic beach volleyball tournament at Tokyo 2020. The action on all three competition courts will be streamed live on the CEV YouTube channel.

The courts on Scheveningen Beach open for business at eight o’clock local time and Wednesday’s first competition day includes all the eighthfinal ties. At all stages of the tournament, each country-vs-country tie will start with two pair-vs-pair rubbers. If the score in the match-up is still tied at one win each, then a third deciding rubber, known as golden match, will determine the winner of the tie.

First in action will be the ladies, with France and Norway taking to court 1, Austria and Slovenia facing each other on court 2, and Cyprus challenging Russia on court 3.

The men are scheduled to get into battle at 11:20 local time, with the first two ties featuring Slovenia vs Austria on court 1 and Switzerland vs Serbia on court 2.

The home teams of the Netherlands are set to get prime-time centre-court action, with their women’s tie starting at 17:00 and the men’s at 19:30, both against Estonia.

By the end of Wednesday’s competition day, all quarterfinalists for both genders should emerge.
